Aeronca Nation 2024

Happy New Year to all members of the National AERONCA Association.

2024 will be the year of the Aeronca Nation at AirVenture, Oshkosh ’24. We’ve got 77 Aeroncas registered at this time. If you’ve thought about flying to Oshkosh someday, make it this year! If the last 5 miles of the trip have you scared, don’t worry. We’ll have briefings and guidance to come in. Sign up at AERONCA.NATION.2024@gmail.com. It will be a once in a lifetime event. Please see the flyer at the end of this letter for details on how to register.

This last year we lost Robert Szego, President of the Aeronca Aviators Club. One of his wishes was to have his organization folded into the NAA. His family has worked hard to help us carry on his legacy. Our goal is to continue with the Aeronca Aviators Club magazine.

In the months to come, we’ll be reorganizing. The Staff for the NAA is not paid. We are volunteers with families, jobs, and even some life events. But, we all have this driving desire to keep as many Aeroncas flying as possible.

All memberships will be honored. Some folks didn’t like one organization or the other. I was member 817 in the AAC. Let’s just work together. We will be reviewing membership dues to ensure they cover costs of publishing/mailing the magazine. If you worked with Robert on the magazine, contact us. If you have suggestions, e-mail the NAA. We have our work cut out for us. Please be patient.

Jim Thompson delegated control of the National Aeronca Association to its Board of Directors and continues to monitor the organization from his home in Roberts, Illinois. We are now additionally committed to honor the memory of Robert Szego.

See you all at Aeronca Nation 2024.
Craig MacVeigh
President, National Aeronca Association

Aeronca Nation Image

In Oshkosh, Wisconsin, the EAA AirVenture 2024 dates are July 22 thru July 28, 2024. EAA VINTAGE is featuring the Aeronca Nation consisting of all Aeronca and Champion Aircraft manufactured prior to 12/30/1970.

The March/April edition of Vintage Magazine will feature Aeroncas.

The Vintage Store will feature Aeronca / Champion merchandise.

We will have a gathering Sunday evening 7/21/2024 at the Tall Pines Café, more on this to come later.

Vintage is reserving 100 parking spaces for these Aeronca and Champion There is a catch – these reserved spaces must be occupied prior to Sunday night July 21, 2024, after that time those empty spaces will be filled with other aircraft on a first come first served basis WITH ABSOLUTELY NO EXCEPTIONS!

To get one of these 100 (hopefully more) parking spaces YOU MUST BE PRE-REGISTERED – The individuals who will be parking these aircraft will be checking the list and only parking those aircraft that have been pre-registered.

No mass fly-in – Each aircraft pilot is responsible for making their own fly in arrangements. We suggest you come in earlier in the week to avoid the NOTAM. Camping on the field is available then, but be prepared to be self-sufficient. We will be publishing a list of nearby airports and what amenities might be available at a later date.

Each individual is responsible for their own cost of EAA AirVenture admission, camping fees, meals, etc. – normal Oshkosh rules.

How to register? – send an email to AERONCA.NATION.2024@gmail.com including the following information for EACH aircraft you are bringing:

  • Last name
  • First name
  • N-number
  • Type
  • Model
  • Year
  • Cell Phone number
  • Email address
  • Street address
  • City
  • State

Note: This email address will be checked once per week for updates and to add you to the Reservation list. This reservation list will be shared with EAA Vintage prior to Air Venture. This email address will also send out requests for clarification on your registration as well as updates on the event status. This email list is only for this EAA Vintage Event and is monitored and responded to by the National Aeronca Association Board of Directors Secretary and EAA Vintage member, Dion Carr.

The Aeronca Nation 2024 looks forward to your participation. Come One – Come All. Fly Aeronca – Fly Fun.
