I am pretty sure that assembly is still used on new aircraft today (i.e. has not changed).
Give parts a call at ACA.

Actually we glue to the leading edge. Too much surface area to pass up!!
The metal spar leading edge has 'inward kink' so the fabric does not bear against the edge of the metal.

New 7EC has a wood prop and we just get the plate from Spruce. Its plated steel. We fab our own too, but its really not significantly different.

We dont stock the Dorsal, but I have seen a dozen or so go out over the years. Its really a matter of perspective on directional stability with or without the extra area. Personally, I think it was a means for Aeronca to pay for engineering the mod. Also, discourages people from doing it and just ge...

Fly-In next week!

Ok, maybe I won't be there but I arranged to have a new Champ there. Cort Haynes from Midwest Aviation in Paducah, KY will be flying their '07 Champ up for the show. Its basically an '08 because it was completed in December. Anyway, it took a lot of kicking and screaming, so buy the kid a lunch. Or ...

It really depends on the condidtion. As I recall, the tail post itself had large margins of safety (its been a while though). However, the rudder hinge bushing are attached to only the tail post. So, directional control loads are more serious when concerned about the attachment of the Rudder. I am s...

7-581-1 is 0.035 wall for 7AC through 7HC 7-1255-1 is .049 wall for 7ECA through 7KCAB 7-1411-1 is .049 wall for 8KCAB 7-1477-1 is .049 wall for 8GCBC All of them are 4130, even the 7AC. Off-field usage is the only enemy of the wall thickness, not airloads. Seen the Scout tail post take a beating on...

Midwest Aviation is working on it; which doesn't garuntee anything. I know Princeton, NJ still has one in stock too. There is one on the floor now with a classic 'fat robin' paint scheme going to some dealer. Its always hard to say, you sit on a plane a while and are sure its good for show. Someone ...

Good thing you sent a messege, cuz I dont prowl on this one... Anyway, I would bet it refers to the 7ECA because thats about the point in time that the transition was made (1967). It probably looked to them that no one would be doing what you are doing (now, 40 years later). The substantiation repor...

Yeah, we get caught in the 'flow' of buy and sell; so I can't be sure who will have one. If they sell out, then its good for us to make the Oshkosh demo early. If they don't sell out, then its bad to make an extra. At this moment, Princeton has a Champ, but June is still 3 months away... Basically, ...
