Great! Just want to get rid of the O-145, and put a Conti on it. Not try for any "extras".
So do the swap, submit 337, and W&B calc. (re-weigh the airplane) good to go?

Re: "Hangars are no place for building airplanes...":
I would think that if you follow the spirit of the rule here. (Keep an airplane in the hangar) Then you would be OK. But there could be a problem if you park your car in the hangar, while you take your airplane to Blakesburg, or Middleton, for a week, and the inspectors happen to come by for a look-...

Re: Roll-up Hangar Doors
I think I have this. http://i210.photobucket.com/albums/bb152/st3gamefarm/rollupdoors007800x600.jpg Please excuse the mess, it's a work in progress. The R-Max is where two swinging doors will be when I get this done. The Garage doors came to me free from the dump, complete with electric open...

Re: Roll-up Hangar Doors
Looking forward to the pictures as the width of a double garage door is only about 20 feet and requires support / tracks on both sides. How do you get the plane out with multiple doors? The tracks are installed in such a way as to allow them to be removed when the doors are up. I can't post any pic...

Re: Roll-up Hangar Doors
How about something like this: Regular garage doors, like the ones on your house. They are inexpensive and easy to install. You can open one, or all. I'll attach pics shortly. 4 standard 9' doors would effectively close up a 40' wide hangar. And if you only need one open that's all you need to open.

Rudder swap?
Not being familiar with the post war Aeroncas, I have a question.
How different is the rudder on an 11AC, as opposed to a Champ of the same vintage?
I ask because, It would be nice to be able to swap rudders, while the one from the 11 AC is being repaired, (hanger rash).

Re: Aux fuel tank
I think there is something in the owners manual about landing with full fuel in back and not full fuel in front. I think you're supposed to transfer fuel in flight when the front tank gets near half. But I think you can transfer fuel as you burn but be carful to not allow the front tank to get too f...

Re: Aux fuel tank
Were there any placards for the use and operation of the factory aux tank? I have never flown one in an Aeronca product, but many in Cessnas were suppossed to be empty before you land. Others can only be used in level cruise flight. Those placards might be the key to safely operating one. I believe...

Re: aux tanks
we have a project in the works, a 41ca. the aux tank is round and fits behind the cargo sling. my question, our tank has a tear drop shaped flange attached near the filler neck. does this go inside or outside the fabric. thanks dave IIRC it goes outside the fabric. It's purpose is to catch, and saf...

Re: New vs. Old Rib Weight's
Running your air through a copper coil in a bucket of cold water will help condense the water. Then you need a downstream trap. That's what I've been thinking of trying. How's your project coming along? nkh I make progress when I work on it. But I don't work on it much. Right now, both wings are as...
