Cooling for 85hp

Problems with our 46champ with 85hp running approx. 210 degrees in Texas heat while it may be within specs would like to get it down to 190, we installed new baffling,have oil filer fin however results have not been enough. I understand Bill Pancake used a scoop with tubing run to oil filter anyone ...

Thanks Paul, mine has the flat sheet and I can see how that would cause stress at corners, a couple well known champ people have told me there should be some type of metal channel along the sides to hold down glass but I have not seen those used. What I need is a drawing and or pictures of an instal...

That appears to be the way this was installed, I guess the Texas sun
has warped the plastic causing it not to lay flat on wood frame. there is
approx. an inch between glass and wood at left rear side(looking forward from aft of plane).

Sorry I have not replied sooner and I do appreciate the answers, I do have the Y pipes and a cooling tube was not installed to screens so that will be my first fix. I do not believe the temp. is high enough to harm the engine but anything over 200 has always been a source of alarm for me. Will let y...

cooling the 85-12

Hi, hope someone can offer advice our 1946 champ with the 85-12 engine
conversion runs great but a little to hot in my opinion, here in Texas
at 88 degree temp. we see about 205 on gauge. Baffling all new and tight,
can anyone suggest ideas we can try.?
