Re: Wing Heavy

A friend who restored a Taylorcraft BC-12D also had a heavy wing. An AD on the struts motivated him to replace his struts and he noted that one strut was about 1 and 1/4 inches longer than the contralateral strut. Now that the struts are equal he had to remove/adjust back (many to mid-position) all ...

CAR Certification and 11CC chief brakes

I've been head scratching about putting Master Cylinders in an 11CC Chief. Using Cleveland Master cylinders it requires moving the Left and Right Rudder torque tubes back about 1+1/2 inches. Questions I have: 1) Matco makes master cylinders with a shorter pin to pin distance and also slightly small...

Re: Toe Brakes

A little more information would get your further. Champ? Chief? Toe brakes were standard on 11CC Chiefs and an option on 11BC Chiefs. These were mechanical (Cleveland Drum or Goodyear Disc) brakes. Do you also want to convert to hydraulic brakes? Also some advice to keep your spam down to a minimum ...

I'm in Yakima on the East Side of the Cascades and have an 11CC that is slowly being restored. I'm lucky to have several EAA members that have done rag and tube restorations on Taylorcrafts and Citabria's along with Cub Crafters who provide alot of support to the Chapter. We're having a Chapter panc...

A critical vote for pilots barely passed the house today. http://www.eaa.org/news/2009/2009-06-04_vote.asp My sense is that most pilots do not mind the security but strongly object to how it is being implemented. I feel that flying is an expression of freedom and I sometimes wonder who has taken mor...

I was going to make another pitch to wheel and deal on your prop but when I double checked my manual it indicates that the 11AC needs a McCauley 1A90 - not a 1B90. The size and pitch of your prop sound close to what I would need for an 11CC with a C-85/O-200 crank STC but my 11CC also needs a 1A90. ...

The current administration along with the TSA/DHS and ATF will take more of our rights than ever before if we allow them to do so. In reality this directive was first surfaced in December 2008. It is a product of the former administration. It is not clear to me that the current administration is ev...

I am in need of a prop for a C-85-12F with the O-200 crank STC. The prop that came with my 11CC did not pass limits at the prop shop and I sent it to another forum member who was looking for an experimental prop. What kind of shape is your prop in and can it be yellow-tagged in the States?

The Lasher STC is very straight forward, but unfortunatly is only approved for the 7AC. Your best bet on getting approval for the -12 engine is finding another Chief's paperwork that has done the mod. I believe the STC also applies to 11CC aircraft. http://mail.westmont.edu/pipermail/aeronca/2006-D...

I'm in Yakima with 11CC N4552E also undergoing restoration. The STC to change the engine over to a C-85-12F is held by Charlie Lasher's son. lasher_d@yahoo.com You'll need a 337 Field approval to get an electric starter which has been done by others. I have heard FSDOS are making 337's more difficul...

Paul; Finally am going to get some time to ship the prop. Any suggestions on how to package? I was thinking about either wrapping it in bubble wrap or putting lag bolts with plastic tubing thru the hub holes into a 2x6. I can finish the lewis prop although I would some appreciate guidance Scott Hepp...
