Re: Looking for some drawings
Also 7-775 which is the hydraulic installation for the l-16a and l-16b. The drawing on Todd's disk is hardly readable. If anybody has a cleaner one that would be great. If not I will try to clean up the one on the disk. Thanks again

Re: Hydraulic L-3 Brakes
I am working on getting hydraulic brakes put in my l-16 using all the parts from a 7eca. My FAA contact has no problem with the installation. I just need to do the paperwork.

Re: Nice to be here...
Only detriment on the L-3's is that they have very limited fuel range. Believe its something like 12 gallons so you are looking for an airport after two hours flight or so... I have to look for a bathroom every two hours so that could work perfect. I have 26gal in the champ. Usually have to pee bef...

Re: Anyone fly from the house?
My father-in-law flies off the farm and has for 25 years. I am in the process of purchasing a house close by and plan on using his farm to fly off of. Aviation is part of life up here in AK and we probably get things done easier up here because everyone knows how important aviation is. I would say g...

Re: Replacing Leading Edge Skins - Drilling Question
I used a piece of masking tape and marked all the holes on the ribs and drew a line through all the holes. When I got the leading edge strapped in, I placed the tape over the leading edge and drilled the hole with a #60 drill. When I could tell which side of the rib hole I was at I could adjust the ...

Re: 7BCM/L-16A Serial Numbers
N2502B 47-1170 7BCM395 I have copies of the original paperwork from the airforce listing the duty station for my aircraft. I also received a copy of the emblem from the training wing my plane was used in. If I can figure out how to post them on here I will try to get them up.

Re: PRE BUY
Where did the fabric tear? I had a fabric issue with my plane as well. I tested the fabric and it tested fine. It was a installation problem as far as I can tell. I can't fault the IA as the fabric tested good. I would ask the IA if he did a fabric test, and where he did it on the airplane. What did...

Re: Finish Systems
If you are looking for an easy repair I feel stits/polyfiber is the way to go. A little mek and you are on you way. (kind of) The major downside to the stits is the mek base for everything. If you are doing your project in your basement probably not the best choice. A friend of mine scratch built a ...

Re: Terrible Transmission above Idle
The shielded p-lead has a wire braid around the center wire. The shielding is usually grounded to the magneto. The noise fliters hook inline with the p-lead at the magneto. I will have to look into the antenna a little more. I tend to stay out of the avionics side of things. Spruce carries the shiel...

Re: Terrible Transmission above Idle
You might try grounding the antenna. I really hate electrical stuff but that might help. shielded p-leads and/or noise filters may help. Its all black magic to me but these things have helped me in the past. hope this helps

Re: Serial Number
Jason, That's kind of my point. They shouldn't be thought of as cops, they should be an information center. If they find a problem the ASI should be able to direct you back to the correct path and assist in straightening up the cause. I don't know about AK but locally the ASI looks for an issue tha...
