Thanks Peter,
Can you also supply us with a build date?

Re: L-3 serial numbers
L3CFI, Thanks for the info. Assuming your L-3C pedigree is correct that would indicate that the numbers I found need to be modified. From anything in your paperwork are you able to understand why why your 1942 build has a '43 service ID number? Do any other L-3 folks care to chime in on this with yo...

Re: L-3 serial numbers
Thanks Paul, That's a good idea. I was able to pull up the following information which has not been verified. If anyone can correct any of this with hard information your comments will be appreciated. The serial #'s for the four original YO-58's (L-3's) are available on A-728. Of the L-3C's one sour...

L-3 serial numbers
Is anyone aware of a reliable source for the actual serial numbers of the Army bought Defender, Chief and Champ style L-3 through the J Model?

Re: Lycoming 0-145
Hi Dan, My source is Type Certificate Data Sheet No. A-702 section III. It does not mention how many aircraft were included in this designation nor the actual serial numbers. Jane's All the Worlds Aircraft 1945-6 also notes the 65LB as a L-3G but does not mention number of aircraft either. If I reca...

Re: Lycoming 0-145
Welcome Rod, Others will chime in on the technical question you asked. At least one 65LB and possibly others were purchased by the Army directly out of the civilian production line. They had the Lyc 0-145-B1, B2, or B3 engines. If yours has serial # L-1018 or higher it may be a legitimate Army L-3G....

Re: Looking for a Champ- Anyone Know this Airplane?
Lucy, If you have been looking for a while you are probably aware that there are now between ten and fifteen Champs for sale at Barnstormers, another is listed at controller.com and two more are in the bidding on Ebay. One of those last two was born as an L-16 with an AAF data plate according to the...

Re: Aeronca, et al for sale
arl,
As a former Army pilot, the Aeronca, if it is a genuine L-16, is particularly interesting to me. Thanks for anything you can come up with.

Carl,
Are you aware of an inventory list for this aircraft? It will be difficult to arrive at a value without knowing what is missing. Thanks, Dudley

Re: $13,000 1941 Chief with two engines on ebay
Had a nice phone conversation with the seller a few days ago. He seemed like a nice young man though not well versed in airplane stuff. He admitted freely that the airplane had been recovered by himself without any thought of inspection or sign off. He has also done some engine work on the 0-200 (he...

Frame Color
Jeff, What color did you use for the steel frame and interior panels and how did you come to that choice? Is there any special treatment to your floor panels or is it simply gloss black paint over plywood? Your rear seat fabric appears to be the same as the front seat fabric in a photo that David po...
