Re: Anyone use the Stewart System and whats results?

I have used both Stitts and Stewart, the Stitts is quicker in my opinion. I used the Stewart on an experimental and if you make a mistake on gluing it, it is much easier to fix, however, if you do not get all of the excess glue off it looks bad. Stits can be removed with MEK, I have not found a good...

Re: Oil leak on my C85-12 engine

The best way to find an oil leak is to gunk the engine until it is oil free, then spray soft and dry powder deodorant or any deodorant that has talc in it around all the gaskets and seals until it is covered in white powder. Run the engine for a few minutes and wherever the leak is starting will tur...

Re: help with parts

From the backside of the gauge, there are 2 nuts that hold down a u shaped bracket that is wider than the gauge and presses against the back of the panel. just feel for the 2 nuts and unscrew them., Jim

11AC with Continental O-200 upgrade

Is there anybody that has upgraded their Chief with a Wagner STC for a O-200? If so I was curious about the performance difference. jim

Re: Oil leak around cylinder hold down studs

If you are having trouble finding exactly where the oil is leaking then gunk the engine and when it is dry spray it with soft and dry deoderant (or any deoderant with baby powder in it). it will leave a layer of white talc and when you run the engine the exact location of the oil leak will appear. I...

I Love My Chief

After a year and 120 hours in my Chief I have really come to love this airplane. When I first bought it, I was new to tailwheel flying and I now know what so many pilots are missing. I have rebuilt the oleo struts, zero timed the engine with a MOH, replaced pulleys, OH prop, and pretty much been thr...

Re: Landing issues, any advice?

I had the same problem when I started flying my Chief. I would touch down and it would go wherever it wanted to. I checked my main gear and both springs were worn and shorter than when new. The left strut would only move about an inch ant the right one was spongy. Also the lower bushing was worn all...
