Re: Cam wear plate on Cleveland brakes

Someone must have switched them at some point, I did swap them and still can rotate wheel. My plane has over 6700 hrs on the airframe, can't tell from searching the logs if brakes ever touched.. Thanks.

Re: Cam wear plate on Cleveland brakes

Appreciate the feedback. Was hoping to be able to pop out the little wear block and have a local machine shop make me a little thicker one. Will look into your advice in the fall!

Re: Cam wear plate on Cleveland brakes

Thanks, I have considered that but still wonder about possiblity of getting new or having made cam wear plates and how to get the old ones out. Are they just tapped out or do I have to heat the shoe first. Thanks again.

Cam wear plate on Cleveland brakes

Trying to get more brake still. Measured ID of my drum on my 46 AC and it is only worn .003 after all these years, I have the spec measurement a friend got from manufacturer few years ago. Linings still over 3/8" thick, ordered new ones from Univair and they are same thickness. Have to rotate c...

Re: Felt wheel bearing seals Champ

Thanks for both replies! I believe I made the ones on there now. I am liking the idea of the grease. Is there a rec you can give me? I am not sure what my mechanic was using and I do want to take a stab at it myself in the next week or so.

Reading top of this thread, what do you folks mean by " the needle may not have been seated with the proper head pressure". What is the proper head pressure? Again, is it normal to get some of this leakage, some other owners here say that there is some leakage out of the float chamber, the...

Thanks guys, it only happens in flight. It is a thick greenish blue liquid that seems to be dripping off the mixture screw although maybe it comes from higher up, then drips on the back of the carb heat box, then down the bottom of the carb heat box out the lower cowl then blown back by the prop. It...

Wing/fuselage inspection hole cover

I need one, last night noticed one missing from bottom of the fuse. Can't find them on web search or A-Spruce or Wag's site. Any ideas? Thanks.

Three of us here near Albany NY have leaky gauges when full. Stops after burning less than half a gallon. I find if I only fill the tank to the bottom of the filler neck no leak...Good luck.
