Agriculture and Pest Control Restricted Airworthiness

I'm casually looking at a Champ that has a "restricted Agriculture and Pest Control " airworthiness listed in the registration. Can I LEGALLY fly this as a Light Sport for recreational use or is a plane with this type of AW only allowed to be used for Agriculture and Pest Control ? How eas...

Teach Too?

Joe, Does he teach in the Champ too? I'll be headed out for my annual "Pick Up and Drive Mom Home From Mesa" trip this spring - she lives in the retirement community directly to the east of Falcon Field - and I'm always on the lookout for a chance to get some time in another plane. Sean Sh...

Re: Rans Courier

There is a Rans-specific site that can answer all your questions called RansClan. If you google them, you can come up with a web address - I'm not posting it as I'm not sure Forum rules allow me to suggest a "competing" site - although different airplanes entirely. I've flow back seat in o...

Re: Stick Chief for sale!

Rock,

I've seen the photos of the plane on B'Stormers, but I've been dying to see what the cockpit looks like in stick configuration. Next time you post an ad, make sure you throw in some photos of the cockpit.......would be neat to see.

Re: Champ for sale

Keith - thanks for keeping an eye out for me.

The 65 is a little light on HP for me. I'm going to hold out for an 85 or 90 to get my big butt up. I REALLY like the skis though!!!!!

Re: 1300 Gross 7EC Help

Doesn't the 7EC also hacve two Wing Tanks - 2 5.5 gallons or 2 13s? Hence need for more MGW? TCDS requires 18.5 gal (13 gal and 5.5 gal) But section 116 allows for a 26 gallon system if you follow the required drawings. (jeeze I've got way too much time on my hands) Oh....guess who SOLO'ed THIS MOR...

Re: 1300 Gross 7EC Help

LOL No offense felt. You're right - I should decide pretty soon. I've dialed in on. CCM That would fit my mission well. The price is right, I trust the seller (mostly) but my one underlying. Ear is that I can't / don't know anything a out what goes on under the hood or under the wing skins etc. my i...

Re: 1300 Gross 7EC Help

Continental considers them interchangeable, but the TCDS indicates that the CCM uses the -8 and the EC uses the -12. Is there a Aeronca service letter that allows for the interchangeability? It's really semantics though isn't it? the only difference between the CCM and the EC is the -12 is it not?

Re: 1300 Gross 7EC Help

Since it will be a 7AC-CONV, any reason why you would not want to build it as a 7CCM? 1300 MGW - C-90 - one 5.5 gallon wing tank, plus the 13 gallon nose tank. 7EC @ 1300 Gross uses the C-90-12 7CCM @ 1300 Gross uses the C-90-8 I dont need a starter (now) but a lightweight generator could supply th...

1300 Gross 7EC Help

This is STRICTLY a hypothetical, but something I've been thinking about. There were a certain number of 7EC's made with 1300# gross - the Type Certificate Data sheet says this: "Maximum Weight: 1300 lb. (If lower end landing gear oleo strut aaembly, Aeronca dwg. 3-433, is installed)." As t...

Re: converting from a a65 to a c85

So what ever happened with this? I see the plane is for sale on Barnstormers now and its got a C-85-12 in it. Any problems? I'm also wondering how many other parts/repairs were done to aeronca standards after the "Damage-Substantial" crash back in '78.....I've got a feeling there's more Ae...

Re: My Super Champ is going up for sale.

I'm not sure the no bounce gear has that much to do with it. Absolutely right - methinks (and I might be talking out my rear here or stating the over-obvious here) that no bounce is most often brought up as that addition has been the death knell for so many Champ conversions - somewhere (most often...

Re: My Super Champ is going up for sale.

Yes you can. The 1320lb limit is for the LSA Certificated aircraft, once exceeded cannot be returned. The Standard Catagory aircraft can be modified above, and returned to the lighter gross weights. Make sure your Operating Limitations and Weight & Balance reflect the proper weights if you plan...

Re: My Super Champ is going up for sale.

According to the TCDS the 7BCM (L-16A) is limited to a 1220 maximum weight, it doesn't say anything about the gear. The 7CCM (L-16B) can be increased to 1350 with the long gear and placard. So yes, it can be flown under LSA 61 rules at a 1300 lb maximum weight. Personally I'd have the A&P redo ...
