Re: Sandy Hook A hoax?
I agree that the majority of news outlets in the US are left leaning. I am just saying that doesn't equal a concerted coverup of facts. And I also find local news hard to watch, mostly because they feel like they are trying to entertain me instead of deliver the news. Is what happened on American Id...

Re: Sandy Hook A hoax?
Jim- Please don't believe everything you read in a viral email, especially when what is being said is so outrageous, and then try to pass it along as fact. Also, don't believe that the entire media is in cahoots and that everyone is hiding facts from the public. A conspiracy of such proportions is r...

Re: Sandy Hook A hoax?
I guess this goes to the original topic. Do you think the shooting is a hoax or that the shooting was real, but perpetrated by the government?

Re: Trim
We adjusted all travels at last annual according to specs(Lasher C-85 STC), and there is still not enough trim when solo in front seat. This appears to be normal. It is not uncomfortable, or too heavy, but it is not trimmed.

7AC Door Hinge Pin
I am trying to figure out what is supposed to hold the door on. Is it supposed to be a clevis pin or a bolt? If so, what parts are needed. Drawing 2-855 is supposed to show that, but it isn't on my drawing CD, and the Aeronca website is down until August. Wag-Aero sells the pin that fits 7 and 8 ser...

Re: Tailwheel Spring Pad(s)
I am happy to report that we put in the new pads, and the shimmy is gone. Thanks for all the help!

Re: Tailwheel Spring Pad(s)
Good photos. It looks like there is one washer between the front of the spring and the fuselage. Is that correct?

Re: Oleo packing, how much to put?
I too tried the small packing that Univair sells. It leaked. I bought the "proper" size from McMaster-Carr, and it worked great. Also, there should be no "excess" fluid to leak out. It should move from one side of the piston to the other, and not out the packing.

Re: Tailwheel Spring Pad(s)
I got the pads from John Propst and took them to the plane, only to discover that we have a "non-standard" mount, and only 1 rubber pad. Univair has the proper fitting, U1-555, but they show 2 different U-bolts. Part# U1-10589 and U1-10325. Does anyone know which one I am supposed to use?

Tailwheel Spring Pad(s)
Our '46 7AC has a Scott tailwheel that always shimmied on rough surfaces. At the last annual, it appeared that the mounting bolt was too long since there was play between the spring and the tailpost. A shorter one was installed, and now the shimmy is worse, particularly with someone in the back seat...

Any pilots in Triplett or Brunswick MO
Hi All- My friend's dad just passed away, and a wish he had before he died was that rose petals be sprinkled from a plane over the town he grew up in(born in Triplett, lived in Brunswick). It would take a couple of days for me to take my Champ out there. I'm just wondering if anyone is in that area,...

Re: Oleo packing, how much to put?
How come Univair sells 1/4" packing, when the original drawing shows 3/8"? I cut it to length like the drawing shows, but it won't seal. I didn't check the thickness until the oil started to run out of it.

7AC Flaps
I was perusing the NTSB accident database, and came across this one: http://www.ntsb.gov/ntsb/brief2.asp?ev_id=20091028X13928&ntsbno=CEN10LA031&akey=1 In one of the paragraphs, the investigator(s) surmise the flap up and flaps extended stall speeds of the airplane by analyzing a picture of t...
