Joe,

I will do so. This is a great resource for information and has been of benefit to me as I have hoped to be of benefit to others here. I won't be gone - I still have another Champ in the hangar ...

FYI - here in the Northwest Mountain Region, ribstitching is absolutely NOT approved. I had an A&P come to me wanting to do rib stitching on a Champ and since I was unable to come up with an STC allowing it (manual says PK screws or rivets and there is an STC for the clips) I checked with my PMI...

I'm thinking around $15,000 - $16,000. That may seem high at first glance but I think the photo's tell the story. About the only thing that is old is the data plate!

Gus (and Paul), Two things to remember here. The first is that an AN 365 puts the bolt under tension - it is torqued. An AN 310 does not. Without being the design engineer (I'm not that darn old!) I suspect that there was a reason for not attaching the lower end of the lift strut with a tension bolt...

In answer to Nathans question - no, you can't unless the part number for the part as designated in the applicable part manuals for the specific model in the TCDS are the same.

How about the entry step for a Champ? Almost impossible to find and a real bear to try and make!

Just thought I would chime in here. We had the discussion not too long ago but it bears repeating - rib stitching is not an approved method of attaching fabric to wings on Champs. You may be able to talk a FSDO into a field approval but it is unlikely.

John, I'm not a chemist but I think I would re-consider the idea of painting seat belts. What chemicals are in the paint and what will those chemicals do to the fibers of the belt material? Using paint on car fabric that isn't put under stress is not to my mind quite the same as putting it on someth...

Gus, Low flying hours per year is not something that I would accept for the necessity of having to have each of the cylinders partially topped, especially with the low hours since major - even if that was several years ago. Be that as it may - please don't disregard that unless you can find an appro...

Gus, Based on the information that Dennis just provided, the prop is not approved on the airplane per the STC. If your IA is any good, (s)he is going to spot that and won't sign off an annual. In point of fact, even if there is a current annual in the log book, the aircraft is unairworthy since it i...
