Re: INTERIOR FOR '39 AERONCA CHIEF
Thanks, Richard. That's very kind of you--cleaning is the least of my worries. I hope to have it flying again by spring. Clyde

Re: INTERIOR FOR '39 AERONCA CHIEF
I thought I'd posted a reply so if you get two chalk it up to an old man's shaky hands, Richard. I'd be delighted if you could mail it to me and I'll gladly pay you for it and the shipping. My address is Clyde Robbins, 221 Greenough Road, Troy PA 16947

Re: INTERIOR FOR '39 AERONCA CHIEF
Thanks, Richard. I suspected mine had the skylight added sometime in its past. Any way you could take a picture of the interior, particularly the headliner? Clyde

I have a '39 Chief but I suppose they are different. I can send you pictures of what I have if it will do you any good. Clyde

I have a '39 prewar Chief torn apart at the moment and I could take a picture of the bracket and send it to you if that will do you any good. Clyde

Re: 1940 65-LA Windshield Problem
Good! I'll check with that company to see what they can do for me. Pushrod seals for a C65? I'll look tomorrow to see what I have. I'm in Bradford County near the NY border at 0PA3 Robbins Farm Airport in Troy Township.

Re: 1940 65-LA Windshield Problem
I'm restoring a Chief that was manufactured in '39, delivered in Jan '40. It was originally a C-50, according to the logs. Many years ago my brother built a form that was used to fabricate a new windshield for a '39 Chief and I have the form. I need to get another windshield for my project but if it...

INTERIOR FOR '39 AERONCA CHIEF
I have an AirTex interior for my prewar Chief. I have no idea how it is supposed to install. Anyone know? This question has been overtaken by events--AirTex sent me the wrong interior--its for a SuperChief but they're currently making me the proper one (very good people to deal with!) Does anyone ha...

TAIL WHEELS
My '39 Chief has a tailwheel plaque that says it's a "3000" but the axel is worn, one bearing is missing a ball and has been spinning. The 6X2 hard rubber wheel looks OK but I can't find replacement bearings for it and there are no numbers on the ones installed. I ordered bearings for a &q...

Re: Dorsal vs. Standard Chief
Thanks to all replies. I think all agree that the "standard" was the smaller fin whereas the "dorsal" referred to the enlarged fin. It's obvious from the pictures that mine is the smaller fin. I was afraid that "standard" might apply to a removable fin and I certainly w...

Dorsal vs. Standard Chief
I'm restoring a 1939 Chief with a fixed fin. Yesterday Aircraft Spruce who is providing an envelope for me, asked if my Chief was a "Standard" or a "Dorsal". My AI says it's a "standard" but wasn't sure what the term "dorsal" referred to. Does anyone know? Cer...

Re: Fabric envelopes Aeronca 50-C
Jim seemed to be very knowledgable of the different types and particularly mentioned the pre-war model (mine was actually built in '39 and has the "bug eye" cowling). When he calls with the price I'll be sure to mention the point you made.I have all the parts for it and it needs some strin...

Re: Fabric envelopes Aeronca 50-C
My problem concerning envelopes is solved! MikeB recommended that I talk to Jim and Dondi Miller in Ohio and their web page showed envelopes for all the Chiefs. I talked to Jim and we're in business! Their company is "Aircraft Technical Support Inc.

Re: Fabric envelopes Aeronca 50-C
It really gets confusing (50C, 65C, 65CA, 7AC and 11AC) My understanding that all the Chiefs sometime in the forties started to be designated "11ACs" because everyone was putting different engines in them. The Spruce supplier only has patterns for the 7AC which as I understand it is the Ch...
