AIR FILTERS, ETC.
If your airplane came with a air filter, and you change to an approved filter....that is a MINOR MODIFICATION......NOT A MAJOR MODIFICAQTION. There are IA's, Machanics, and yes even the FAA that does not fully understand the difference between the two. Even if you go to several different FSDO's they...

Check for proper propeller Indexing to the engine....some A/C are very
critical in this area, just one bolt hole can make a world of difference.

ENGINE TBO's
I was in a flying club back in the late 60's, flying 150's (3) and a 172 with the 0-320-E2D Engine. The 150's were flying 70 to 110hrs per Month and the 172 approx 90 to 120 per Mo. In the 14 years I was involved the rod bearings on the 0-200 were gone at 2200 to 2300hrs. Some mechanics pulled and r...

SLICK MAGS
I overhauled an A-65 last year with New Slick Mags. I had to call the factory rep due to the fact I could not install the cotter key within the torque spects given. They said they were having the same problem. They sent me two more nuts to try, and I was able to install them ok. The way the new nuts...

GEN to ALT.
Check the other Modles of the Champs, 7 & 8 series. Use their wireing size and routing along with the Drawing Number for that plane. Then get your Mechanic/IA to make up a 337. Do the paper work FIRST! I did this on an Aircraft many years ago, and it went straight thru. As mentioned above if no ...

LOSS RPM ON T.O.
I just read an artical today about your problem. It was in GA news paper.
Check it out, also check "ALL" valve springs to see if one or more are
broken, yep it is a pain, but one of the things listed in the article.

I can't help you no part no.'s, but to check the one you have, if you hold
it up to a light and you can cleary see your fingers thru it, it needs to be
replaced. I use the Brackett one, good for 100 hrs. or one year.

Stainless Welding
You can weld it with a TIG welder using Argon or an inert gas. It needs to be backed up with gas, if not, it will crack soon. Do not braze, which means the the use of Brass. In the aircraft world, brazing is the use of brass. Welding is the use of steel/stainless. I would have sent the muffler back ...

Baggage Rack at Rear Seat
A friend told me of a baggage rack Ass. You remove the rear seat and
it bolts in place where the seat was. Has anyone ever heard of such a
thing. It is not listed on the 7AC equiptment List, and not listed in the STC's. Any ideals????

OIL LEAK
Bob, have you checked the gasket at the oil stick? As stated above, the
steel tank flanges will warp. Just lapped one for a friend. It was almost
1/64" between holes. Also found a 1/4" crack at the flange-to-tank weld.
I use Tite-Seal on the gasket.

LEADING EDGE
Don't forget to break the edges 45'. I found one Champ that had a wood
filler on TOP of the spar so the metal would not bend down when the fabric
was tightened. Guess what, you can not inspect the top of the spar!
As above noted above, that is the best way (cargo straps).
