Re: leaking carburetor
If they're set up right they do not leak. Here is some good info on needles and seats http://thestrombergspecialist.com/index.php/news-info/newsletters/112-stromberg-carb-problem and dripping http://thestrombergspecialist.com/index.php/news-info/newsletters/109-stromberg-dripping-letter . I went thr...

Re: BRAKE INSTALLATION PICTURES
Any update on a Grove brake STC? Would it keep the heel brakes or go to toe brakes?

Re: Stromberg mixture bits & pieces
UPDATE: I've been messaging with folks over on the Cessna 120/140 board and have found a member over there (Amazonjet) who has had a bunch of these made and claims them to be exact to the drawings. He is offering them up for $15 + shipping. The forum topic over at the 120/140 board can be found here...

Re: Fuel gauge shenannigans
Brian,
Thank you for the offer. I think I'm going to move in the direction of building a cub bobber type gauge. The old gauge hole hasn't leaked a bit since I plugged it and I feel I'd like to keep it that way!

Re: Stromberg mixture bits & pieces
Brian, I appreciate the offer. I'm not sure I need all the documentation. I've heard back from Dan at Aircraft Systems and we're going to exchange my carb for the proper one, with a a mixture. Now I'm just looking to hook it up. As to the mixture control arm extension - I know that AN arm would be e...

Re: Stromberg mixture bits & pieces
Alright, after some more digging and researching I've come to realize the carb on my engine is technically illegal. According to the part # it is for a C-75 ONLY. Curious since the carb has been on the plane with an A-65 since before I was born and Don at Don's dream machines changed out the venturi...

Re: Fuel gauge shenannigans
So then, would everyone agree that building a cub style 'wire with a bobber' type fuel cap would constitute a gauge and therefore make the plane legal in this regard?

Re: Fuel gauge shenannigans
Haha, I knew someone would start throwing reg's around! Well, according to 91.205b(9) - (9) Fuel gauge indicating the quantity of fuel in each tank. Well then, how do we get away with the 5 gallon aux tanks in each wing not having an indicator? Does the FAA just consider it all one big tank? I know ...

Re: Fuel gauge shenannigans
Dennis - You are correct. I have no problem threading the retaining nut all the way down when nothing is installed. I stopped short of putting fuel lube on everything when I put it back together the last time, I'll give that a shot. At least I know if I can get by without a gauge I can make it quit ...

Re: Fuel gauge shenannigans
Hi Guys - What I've gone and done is plugged the hole with the gasket and a hole saw cut piece of aluminum sheet, holding it all in with the large retaining nut. This set up is not leaking, but I was also able to thread the retaining nut much further than with the gauge installed. Brian - The gauge ...

Re: Fuel gauge shenannigans
So my header tank gauge is still not sealing up completely, with the tank full the gauge weeps pretty good. At least it's not pouring out of it like it was before. The gasket I've got between the indicator and the tank is a neoprene type. With the gasket and indicator installed I don't feel I can ge...

Stromberg mixture parts
I posted over in the Engine section but I'll stick something here too. I have moved from sea level to ~5500 msl and am interested in adding mixture control to my Stromberg carb. My carb now has a plate over where the mixture control should be, so I'd assume I have nothing there and would need the en...

Stromberg mixture bits & pieces
Hi all - I've moved from sea level to a field elevation of ~5500' msl. I'm interested in adding the mixture control to my Stromberg. According to a document found over on bowersflybaby.com here the mixture control on the Stromberg can be very effective. What is the groups experience with this? Curr...

Re: Horizontal Stab Flutter?
Jerry - I would tend to agree with you, it seems if I remember correctly to mostly be a problem in the climb and I didn't necessarily notice any flutter in the elevator/stick. I'm going to fly again today, I'll tighten up the trim tab horn and see if that makes any difference. Paul - It's got regula...

Fuel gauge shenannigans
So the 'new' tank's gauge leaks like a seive. I found this stuff, and for $6.45 I think it's a good tool investment. What do you guys think, worth it? http://www.mikes-afordable.com/miva/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Product_Code=T9300&Category_Code=1067 Good price seems on a gasket set too: http...
