Re: 2 flats with low tire pressure

Joe A, thanks for fixing the BB and allowing me to post, I thought I was losing my mind!. So, I have 24 psi in the tires and all is good, plus it rolls a lot easier. The guy I bought it from had it for 25 yrs, and he always ran 24 psi, so I think I will be OK. Landings are the same. Skyking3286, I d...

Re: Primer operation

I am also a new champ owner (n83987), and find the same thing with my primer. It does not feel like it is pulling any gas in. I have not disassembled the primer yet, but have read about the old style packing inside. I am hoping for some veteran champ owners to chime in. Tom O Seattle '46 7AC, N83987

Re: flat tires & tire pressure

I have since been using 24psi, and landings are no different. Haven't had another flat either.

2 flats with low tire pressure

I put 2 new tires & tubes on my champ in September. I was told (and I took the advice) to inflate tires to 12 psi for no bounce landings, and I did. In October my left tire went flat, and when I took it apart, the valve stem was ruptured. I figured I might have pulled on it too much when install...

flat tire, valve stem torn off

Hello All; I recently purchased a '46 champ, n83987, Seattle area. Shortly after I took possession, I put new tires & tubes, 6x6.00 from Aircraft Spruce. I was told by another Aeronca owner to run 12-14 psi in the tires, so I did, I did not research this. After about a month, my right tire went ...

Re: identifying goodyear wheels for 7ac

Hangarash;
I have taken the champ up to 5000' thus far. I haven't tried to cross the cascade mountains yet, I can't imagine getting over the rockies, but it looks like crossing over I-90 would be the best bet, around Missoula MT.
Have you been over the Rockies in a champ ?.

thanks

Re: identifying goodyear wheels for 7ac

Colie; I think I will join the AERONCA AVIATORS CLUB, I think it is about $35/yr. Where do you find these wheels ??. Is the high flange for mechanical, and low flange for hydraulic brakes ?. Can those keys be replaced ?, it looks like they are swaged in there. Thanks for the info Tom O. I tried to a...

Re: identifying goodyear wheels for 7ac

hangarash; Thanks for responding, this was my first post, and I am impressed with the response. I think Colie set me straight on which wheels will fit my champ. I am sure you are right that half the brain trust is at Oshkosh. I have never been, but came close to going this year. Maybe next year. I h...

Re: identifying goodyear wheels for 7ac

Colie; Thanks for responding, I am impressed. So, the 511413m-1 that is on my plane is a 1200lb cap wheel for the champ, and the 511413s is the 1500lb wheel due to the inner spacer. I found the beginning of a small crack next to the cog for the disk, and I thought I should prepare for the worst. Is ...
