Re: brackett
Years ago I modified a Airmaze filter frame to accept a brackett filter element using the kit that was then available direct from Brackett. To legally install it I obtained a field approval thru the FAA (and have the 337 if anyone else wants to do it.) I suspect that a person with some metalworking ...

Eisemann LA4 Mags FS
My A&P is moving to Alaska and made me a deal on a pair of newly overhauled Bendix Mags that I couldn't pass up. As a result, I have two Eisemann LA4 mags with impulse and shielded harness that are surplus to my needs. I put the 36066 gears on fleabay so at present I just have the mags. They hav...

Need Marvel Schebler Carb
Anybody got a Marvel Schebler carb MA-3SPA you'd like to part with? As long as it is rebuildable it would be OK.
Acceptable variations are the 10-4894 10-4895, 10-4115, 10-4252, 10-3237, and 10-4439.
If you have such a beast, let me know how much you want for it.

He passed - more work than he wanted to take on. I heard that somebody did buy it so maybe it will eventually rejoin the ranks of the flying.

Flying - finally.....
I got my Champ up yesterday for the first time since Nov 28. It took me an hour to shovel the ramp off in front of my hangar so I could get to the taxiway. This was complicated by an icy mess up against the door that had originally slipped off the roof. Normally I get to do some winter flying but th...

Re: C-85 O-200 Conversion - Prop
I have the 72GK44 - it gives great takeoff and climb performance but doesn't add too much to cruise (I usually see about 85 mph). I routinely fly in and out of my 1400 foot strip so it fits me fine. I tried a friend's 72GK46 and noted take off and climb suffered a bit and cruise improved only a coup...

Re: Mo-Gas E-10
Have you checked out this site <http://pure-gas.org/index.jsp?stateprov=MN> to locate stations that sell ethanol free gas? In Michigan about the only places I've found are marinas but other states show a lot more availability. Mixing 100LL and mogas (without alcohol) is a good idea. Some guys in my ...

Re: Air box exhaust (Air Maze type)
I had to replace the flange on my airbox because the air buffeting the tube caused the screw holes to elongate and eventually crack. I don't think welding is a solution because if you try welding on aluminum that thin you will probably distort the airbox sheet metal. My choice of using a short piece...

Re: Oshkosh
Oshkosh gets in your blood. This will be the 35th consecutive Oshkosh I've attended... most of the time I've driven and stayed in Camp Scholler but I've spent my fair share of time camped under a wing. Just a reminder Todd, if you're planning on camping in Camp Scholler someone in your party needs t...

Re: Air box question (Air Maze type)
Flyingfool, I am only aware of one design of airbox on early champs and chiefs. The airbox on the fuel injected L16's was different but many of those have since been changed back to carburetors which required a change in airbox as well. That said, some people have been known to adapt a generic airbo...

Re: Scat Hose to Exhaust
You have no cabin heat? How do you keep your left foot warm in the cold weather? Do you have a plate covering the hole in the firewall where the heater box was? If you aren't using the muff on the left side you might consider taking it off. They'll fit either side and you can keep it as a spar...

Re: Airbox
There is a discussion on this topic in the Postwar Champ section. Check out "Air box question (Air Maze type)"
In a nutshell, when you aren't using carb heat the heated air vents thru the hole. If you attache a tube it vents the heated air outside of the cowling.

Re: Air box question (Air Maze type)
Not to beat the subject to death, but.... I've had occasion to flood my Champ, particularly back in my hand-propping days. The fuel always dripped out from under the filter assembly. If you look at the airbox with the champ in a three point attitude you will note that the bottom of the airbox angles...
