NC83401 Test Flight!
NC83401 is back in the air! Thanks to the expert restoration by Roger Lehnert she flew on 05/17/08 for the first time in 12 years. The project took 12 months. Sorry we can't make it to Middletown. Maybe next time..... http://www.cessna120-140.org/aeronca/7AC_NC83401_mark.jpg http://www.cessna120-140...

NC83401 Progress Report Part III
The engine is 0 SMOH. We wanted to use new Superior cylinders but they seem to be backordered indefinitely. Our old cylinders could be overhauled although we had to chrome them. Test run successful. Minor oil leaks that were easily corrected. The new wood spars are enroute. We hope to have her in th...

Re: panel
D :D oes anyone have the layout or template for the instruments on an 46' champ, I would like to get the layout as original as possible. Are you talking about a 7AC? We laid ours out based on the drawing in the "7A Aeronca Champion Service Manual" http://www.cessna120-140.org/aeronca/pane...

We have a set of original metal wheel pants with our 1946 7AC project. What is the correct color paint? We think it is the fuselage color (yellow). Is there any trim or markings on the wheel pants? When we bought the airplane the pants and fuselage trim were painted red. In our local area the plane ...

Does anyone have photos or drawings of the tank installation? Are the tanks FAA/PMA or is it an STC? How are the lines routed from the tank to the engine? Do the tanks feed to the main tank or is there a switch? Can you put in one tank only? If so, is there a preference for one side over the other? ...

The engine is a stock 65. We have already plotted the course to Middletown! Our current quandry is whether to install wing tanks. Nine and a half times out of ten we would not need the extra gas. Looking at our course accross the Allegheny's is making us think again about the wing tanks. We are not ...

Our project is going at warp speed! We hope to have her back in the air by Spring 2008. The fuselage was disassembled. All the wood and glass is new. We used the "Al Nase Yellow" dope finish. http://www.cessna120-140.org/aeronca/7AC_NC83401_leftside.JPG http://www.cessna120-140.org/aeronca...

Need part number
Looking for the part number(s) for the trim pieces (left and right side) that cover the aileron cables that run vertical along the rear doorpost. We are missing these parts.
Photos of this trim installed would also be appreciated. Send to md80flyer@prodigy.net
Thanks,
Mark

Ed, we are installing Hooker shoulder harnesses using the American Champion service letter 421.
http://www.amerchampionaircraft.com/tech/Sl421.pdf
The headliner is from Airtex so modifying the zipper length is not an option at this time.
Thanks for the advice!

Need photos of headliner installation
The restoration of NC83401 is well underway. The fuselage has been sandblasted, primed and painted. All the wood has been replaced. We are ready to install the headliner. We do not have any installation instructions or drawings. We would appreciate it if any or all of you would send us pictures or a...
