Wing Tanks
How much fuel is enough is like debating bra cup sizes - how much is enough? Well, it depends! If you are really interested in installing the wing tanks give American Champion a call. They retain most of the STCs and most of the older drawings.

Wing Tanks Again
I am building a 7AC and have found a few wing tanks laying around locally. I am not sure if they fit a Champ. They say they are from a Champ but without a compairson photo, Can't seem to find one in any books, I have not idea.
They all look like they fit a left wing, by the shape, with a fuel gauge on the side.
Can anyone help with a photo of the older 5.5 gal wing tanks?
Thanks
Alan

Alan,
I did a search on the bulletin board and came up with this photo.

Look halfway down the page.
If you want more pics you might email the person who posted that one and see if they have more.

yep, looks like that tank. He has three of them. All the same side. But I also notice that the mounting system is a flat board and strap. Might just buy the Wagaero one just to get all the attachments and the STC for the paperwork. Unless I can come up with something that says that this can be mounted and how.
Thanks Again
Alan

Alan, do you have the original Aeronca tanks or Wag tanks? They are probably original right side tanks. The Wag tanks have the solid plate over the top. The original tanks are very easy to install. They work very well. Todd Trainer has some of the prints at www.aeronca.com. If you go with the stock tanks, I can probably help with info. I am still looking for a print of the base board, but Lloyd has an original we can get dimensions from if you need.

Let me know if I can help, David J.

If you do not take the tanks can you pls let us know? There are others who might be interested (myself included) in the tanks if they are priced right.
Thx,
Joe

Hi David and Joe,
Yes, they are the original Right wing tanks. I picked one up and am planing on using it. I do need any kind of drawings on the mounting that I can get David. You say they use a floor board type mount, I need it and the mounting straps. I will also need to find the valves and plumbing configuring for it.
If anyone wishes the other two tanks. They are at Columbia Airmotive in Troutdale Oregon. Phone number is 503-665-4896
Couple of great guys own it and are great to work with.
