Dead Tachometer in 7AC

Anything having to do with an engine that powers any Aeronca aircraft

Dead Tachometer in 7AC

Yesterday, after normal handpropping, the tachometer quit 0.04 (tach reading) hrs later (that is 2min 24 secs, if my math is ok). No noises, flickerings, vibrations, etc. Everything else running perfect, and the cable, by my visual inspection appears ok.
Any suggestions?

Did you check both ends of the cable? Start the engine with the tach end unhooked and see if it spins while the engine is running. Mine (tach) broke two cables. But if the cable is in tack (pun) looks like its tack time (pun). Mark

Mark: Followed your recommendation: Tach cable intact, so, now OutTach, to be replaced by a Mitchell, unless somebody knows about a working counterclocwise AC Tach.
