Joe, the next time I am at the machine shop who made this one for me, I will get us a price for two of them. He charged me $20 for this one but he was not busy and I told him it was for a model A. He took it as a challenge.

If we can get 2-3 made and put one on the East, one on the West and the last on the Gulf coast or there abouts, then anytime someone needs one it can be sent out, used and returned as needed.

You are not going to use this type of tool every week but when you do need it, its something that you really need! Really glad to have found someone who had the foresight to have one made! I am guessing that the antique car groups do not need one of these because their fuel tanks are made of steel, which does not have the same issues that we would with our aluminum tanks.

I got it today. Thanks for returning it. Question for you. How did you turn the chaser? Do you think it would be worth while to weld a 1/2 nut to the end of the chaser to aid in turning it?

I turned the thread chaser by hand and it worked fine; however, having the capability for a little more torque would have been benificial. Welding a nut to the tool base would be a great idea.

I wonder if a socket with the same outside diameter could be used to make the tool. Chuck it up and cut the threads, then you could turn it with a rachet. I'm not a smithy, is a socket too hard to cut in the lathe? Mark

I believe obtaining the right diameter socket to make the tool out of would be the tougher task...pun intended. If the tool can be made, I have friends who will do so. More to follow on this idea.
