Might as well get this started!
Since we know that the Aeronca Chief is the best airplane, and that the Champ was produced so that we Chief owners have a good source of parts, its only right that the first post of the bulletin board is from a Chief owner!
I have firmly zipped my flak jacket up, helmet is on and waiting the incoming emails from the Champ owners!

PS, the Sedan is a Chief with a backseat, so its the best of the best!

Chief vs Champ
You do know that the only reason the Chief was made was for those who couldn't handle their "STICK"
You started it!
You started it!

agree-might as well give this a try. and yes, Chiefs are GREAT! People that keep complaining about how expensive flying is should try a Chief! Bet I spend less than most golfers, card players, RVer's, Harley Riders, and a few other "hobbys" I could mention.
COLD??????
I live in Minnesota, and it's not cold up here now.
For the last three months we have had the 5th warmest
weather on record. Right now it's 33 degress, (10 oclock weather)
partly cloudy, NO snow, and the airplanes are flying.
We had 1" of snow, so I put the skis on and went flying.
Then the snow melted and I'm about ready to put the wheels back on.
Of course its a CHAMP.
Chiefs are okay if your young, not too big, and your taking your
girlfriend for a ride and you want to set close, or your a girl, and you want to take your boyfriend for a ride and set close, (My daughters took there boyfriends for a ride. One daughter even taught her boyfriend how to fly) But when your older, larger, and the two of you don't fit in a side by side airplane comfortably, then the CHAMP is the only way to go.
You can also sight see out of both sides of a Champ.
Give this big OLD guy a CHAMP.
I'll race you, but my old Champ has a 115 Lycoming, so I'll give you a run for your money.

CHAMP v.s. chief
I'm not a big guy, but considering the fact that I can now draw Medicare, I guess I must be old. Never sat in a Chief but I did fly a Taylorcraft once and even though I was lot younger it was still tough to get over the support bar in the door way and squirm my way in. Also, I have a friend who has a pretty new Husky....darn tricky to get in the back seat on that too. Pretty comfortable once you're shoe horned in, though.
I suppose we could do this forum as Champs vs J-3's that would certainly get some discussion going.
I haven't found anything that I don't like about my Champ, other than I wish I had more fuel capacity, which I will take care of if I ever redo the wings again.
