Chief parking brake

Does any one know if any parts cross over for the hand brake assembly on a chief? I am missing the locking ratchet assembly, I can pull the brake but no way to lock it..any ideas?

I am going to guess as I am not at home and do not have my parts books with me that the handle assy is the same on either airplane.

As well am pretty sure that the parts down to the brake pedals probably are not.

BTW, these parking brake assy's are not cheap and when they rarely are seen on Ebay bring a pretty high price. If you are only missing some parts on the assy I would really look at getting a blueprint of the parts and making what you need.

This might be too late to do any good. I had the same problem and managed to find out that there are at least two versions of locking device used,depending on age I guess.

There was one on E-Bay that showed teeth or ratchet notches. My machine had no place for a ratchet type device. I contacted a neighbor whose Chief has a brake like mine with all parts intact. He removed his and allowed me to disassemble it and make new parts as required. Seems to work great.

There is no ratchet. Rather, it uses a hole in the lever (P/n 1-2325), when the brake is pulled on, the sector is allowed to freely move in the hole, when the spring loaded lever is released the sector is "bound" until the lever/spring is squeezed.

Kind of similar to the screen door lock we use to hold the door open! I had most trouble finding a spring ... then found I have a few hundred of them ... each one encased in a #40 cleco!

There isn't a ratchet but I did take a file and put some small "lines" across the smooth radius so that it would have something to grab and be a bit more
positive than one shiney piece of metal trying to grab another shiney piece.
