I spoke with Bill Pancake this morning. The said that the attach point with the U channel running about half up is very wrong. Turns out that there was and AD back in the 50's that was supposed to change that out.

My plane never got it. Makes me wonder how many other ad's were not done. The log books for this project were lost with the previous owner.

So I've got to go through all the ads again any way.

Powers,

As this is a new project with you, its probably better to make a list of all AD's and SB's and just make sure that everything is done right.

You never know what the previous owner has done, or not done, so do it right and document it for yourself, the IA you are working with and possibly the next owner.

Ya the IA I'm working with gave me a print out of all the ad's. I just haven't gotten to the step of going through them yet. So far there has been plenty of work to do. But I'm getting there.

Don't forget to look at the up elevator cable where it passes under the trim tab pulleys in the tail section. (where the trim makes a 90 deg and comes out the fuselage.) In some, with the elevator full up, the cable rubs the stud for the trim pulleys. My champ was done, the chief was not.
