Elevator Cables - AC

I have used the old site a number of times looking for parts or technical info and it has been great. This one seems more complicated but hey maybe it will be even better.

I have another tech question, - I am installing the elevator cables in my 7AC project and need to know where the stick should be with the elevator neutral. The question is - with the elevator in the neutral position (even with the horizontal stab), where should the front stick be - even with the bottom of the instrument panel, ahead of the panel or behind ..... and by how much??

Russ, the proper length cables will set the position of the rear stick. Minor
adjustment might be made thru the turnbuckle. The front stick position
is not adjustable due to the tube between front stick and back stick. You
would have to rebend the sticks themselves to make major adjustments
.......I think. Did you see the other site for this answer. Best of luck.

Russ I will measure the front stick position on my 7AC and post it here as soon as I get to the airport.

I measured the stick position with the elevator in netural. The position is
1 and 1/2 inches to the rear (aft) of the bottom of the instrument pannel. This is not and exact measurement but close. Hope the helps.

Thanks for the info- this is exactly what I need. As I haven't yet installed the seats it was hard to tell where the stick should be. Now I can finish the cable wrap.

The 1-1/2 inch is a good start put you need to be able to get the travel of the elevator of 25 deg up +0 deg, -2 deg and 15.5 +2 deg, -2 deg down.
The profile of the seat pading and pilot might be a problem. Also, the book states 45 to 55 lbs of rigging load on cables.
