Cruise Prop for Chief

Post by n1269k »

I have a Sensenich wood 72ck42 prop on my 46 Chief, 65 hp and see 2300 static and about 75 MPH indicated cruise.
Climbs about 400 to 450 fpm @ gross with outside temp about 60.
What prop, static, and cruise are others seeing on their 65 hp Chiefs?

2300 static is too high. Usually @ 50 rpm change per degree of pitch.

Thanks Jody for the reply. I was hoping for the performance figures from some of the chief drivers.
The TC, A-761, calls for 2300 max and 1990 min for wood props.
I would like more cruise but not sure if a metal or wood would be the best prop to look for.

I have a Sensenich 74CK-0-44 (73.5) diameter on my A-65 Chief and I cruise at 2150 and 93 MPH. At 2300 she will cruise at 104 MPH however, she doesn't sound as sweet as she does at 2150.

Plus 2150 is 4.8 gph and 2300 is 4 gph.
