Aeronca Sedan Project

Aeronca Sedan Project
What is a Sedan project worth these days? The Aeronca company made so few of them and less than half are still in existance. It is hard to find parts and almost no mechanics are familiar with the breed. With the price of every other Aeronca going up, is it possible that the Sedan is the Aeronca orphan? What can someone reasonable expect a no engine, no prop, needs losts of restoration work project to fetch in the marketplace? I am seriously considering buying one and wonder if I am crazy. Any help?

I am currently in the process of restoring a Sedan. I flew the airplane for ten years before I took it apart and have to say I highly recommend it.
I'm sorry that I would really have no idea of what one should pay for a project like you describe, but the man to talk to would be Burl Rogers, website: http://www.burlac.com/ he has the Sedan TC and is currently manufacturing Sedan parts. Thanks to him the Sedan is no longer an orphan.
Hope things work out. If I can be of any help you can reach me at lknapp@polarnet.com

Re: Aeronca Sedan Project
I have seen them go for 10-12,000 for a complete plane. The price may go up bacause there were not many made, but most are looking for Champs and Chiefs due to the sport pilot rule. JW

Seeking cost of a 15AC - Almost NEW from frame outward.
Complete Major Restoration - Airframe & Engine - includes Accessories,
In today's Market ..... Should you be able to to FULLY complete such a restoration and make it FLYABLE ...... you are looking at: $75,000.00 out the door. And IF you're NOT an A & P/I.A. ..... the cost could be a "Sky Rocket".
I am a A & P/I.A. .... So I am aware of costs of Today. Labor & Material.
As an Example: A comlete exterior Fabric cover job; i.e.... ALL flight surfaces Plus Fueslage cost locally $15,000.00. Start adding components & the costs continue to add up FAST.
Comment: The Aeronca "Sedan" is a marvelous aicraft to fly .... By to-
day's standards it is a 'SLOW FLYING' aircaft.
Should you be comfortable with that.... Get One.
