Georgia to Middletown

Sorry I missed going on the trip with you guys. Sure looks like the flying was great!

My personal trip this past week went well. I flew up to Baltimore on the 12th, had the surgery on the 13th and got home last night. The surgery went very well. They got out all the cancer they could and saved my facial nerves so I'm through the first big hurdle. Got a great scar and will still be able to fly!

Hope to find another great excuse to fly up to spend some time with the Georgia boys...maybe GA2 will have another fly in this fall?

Ed, great to hear the good news. I tend to be a little pessimistic most of the time, and to hear you deal with your situation with a good attitude really helps me to go forward. Are you close to Mark Lamon? If so, you really need to watch him. Close.....Nate, er, Tater is a handful as well. Great Guys. GA2 usually has several flyin's per year. Ed, Great to here all went well in Baltimore. I'm near Pensacola, I remember seeing your Champ at Peach State. I look forward to getting up there this year again. Rumor has it that the Georgia boys are going tohave a Areonca fly-in on the off years of the NAA one in Ohio. They were kicking around the idea of having some Aeronca specific workshops.. Mark

Thanks to you all! I will be through with the radiation treatments in a few months and hope to be ready to fly up there for the fall fun. Actually, if all goes well, I should be able to fly again in a week or two. As soon as I can wear a headset and not need a nap each day I' will be ready.

Mark, my son is going to FSU, so maybe my next trip up to visit him (probably end of summer since he's away in TX doing an internship) we could get together for a day of flying the panhandle area.

Joe, don't know if I ever told you but your area brings back great memories too. I was a District Ranger at Lake Mead and lived at Temple Bar in AZ. Used to ride my Indian motorcycle to Phoenix, Tucson and all other great spots regularly. Can't wait to get back out there and fly.

When you get out this way pls let me know. Right now its going to be 113 degrees today, so you might want to wait a few months!

In the summer of '99, I went through 38 radiation treatments and one full week, 24/7, of Chemo every month for 4 months for cancer of the tongue. It was a bitch to say the least but it was worth it. Nine years out, cancer free (knock on wood) and loving every minute of it.

Think positive and just do it.
