Compass problems....

Post by CptKelly »

What do you do when your compass won't swing? The compass in Gail's Champ is refusing to swing properly, so I had a brand new one installed. Guess what? It won't swing either. Our Champ's compass is in the dash, and fairly close to the gas tank. I had a IA tell me to put MU metal between the compass, and tank. Do you think that would work?
Seems a shame not to be able to travel by time/heading/distance. What would you do?

I have used this machine on four different aircraft. It works great and service is prompt. If you scroll down on the page you will find alot of info on the whole subject. Keep it away from your computer!!! Mark

Does the compass work when you take it out of the airplane? If yes then Marks post is probably what you need to do.
