A-65 Wooden Prop Faceplate

My faceplate appears to be home made of plain 0.090-0.120 Al, maybe even soft Al. When I try to torque the hub bolts they don't seem to get tighter at all even with only 12lb-ft on the wrench. I chickened out and stopped.

Now it is obvious that this plate is bending when the nuts are torqued so this plate has to go.

As I remember the plate on my Stinson was at least 1/4" thick and appeared to be beveled and hardened Al. This one just looks like a big washer.

Everywhere I look on my Champ the rebuilder seemed to take the very cheapest way out. I'm getting pretty tired of this and pretty disgusted with myself for not looking closer before buying.

I figured some of you guys who changed to metal props probably have some of these plates lying around? I assume that wood and metal use different plates, but that might not be so??

Anyway, anyone have one in good shape to sell to me?

Problem solved. The plate is available from Air Spruce and Wag-Aero. One is on the way!!

The plate I removed is 1/8' and crooked as can be from being torqued.
