L-3 / YO58 performance manuel

Post by Valley Av. »

Does any one know where I can get a performance manuel for a 1942 YO58. We have various military books but none of them show speeds other than Vne and max cruise speed! I would like to know Vy Vx best glide and stall speed at least. I woulden't worry about it so much but we are renting out the airplane so we really need the info

Have never seen such a manual... From expermenting with mine, I find that 60 MPH is a pretty good best rate of climb speed and 50 - 55 for best angle...

It stalls around 30 to 35 indicated...

You might try joining the L3 owners group at http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Aeronca_L3_Owners/
and posting the question there...

There is a set of manuals that cover the L-3 Published under the Army Air Froces and the UK back in the 1940's. I have a copy of the part you are looking for. AN 01-145LA-1 "Pilot's Flight Operating Instructions for Army Model L-3 Series" Would send a copy of this section for $25.00 to cover costs, money would be used on a Aeronca some how.

These and the other manuals do come up on Ebay from time to time.

L-3 / YO-58 manual

The performance figures for the YO-58 are the same as the 65-TC since they were manufactured under the same Type Certificate . Are you sure you have a YO-58 ? It is almost identicle to the 65-TC except for the balanced rudder and front brake pedals of the 65-TAC " Defender Trainer " , and was soloed from the front . You can find this information under FAA Aircraft Specification No. 728 .
