Anyone have any feelings on how long Slick mags last?
The new owner of my Chief is fussing with the plane and pulled the plugs out to clean them. Seems that the A&P that he is working with says that "slick mags are good only for about 900 hours then its time to replace them."
Anyone else have any experience with this? They ran fine when I owned it and my guess is that if he cleans the plugs that it will run fine again.
Thx,

Slick Mags question
Mag TBO
Hi Joe, here's what I thought and found. the fellows A&P maybe about 40 years behind the times or at least 2 mag models behind times. Unless the mag are that old.

There is currently a couple of Slick SB's but does not require replacment of the mags, some mags require upgrading others are fine.

I have no idea what his problem is....but maybe he is burning 100LL exclusively??? I have a REAL bad problem when I burn strraight 100LL in the O-300 of my 172. That darn engine detests it!! It will foul plugs in very little time unless I either run a mix of 100LL and Mogas or run straight Mogas. I have flown the last two summer with nothing but mogas and haven't had a hickup at all.
