Outside Temp gauge

Anyone running an outside temp gauge in their Sedan? This one does not have one and I miss having one to look at, especially in Winter and when you are near visable moisture.

I do have a old Scott temp gauge that came out of another airplane that I was thinking of installing. Problem is that it would require drilling a hole in the windshield to install and before I start poking holes in something like a windshield wanted to see if any others had done so and had any suggestions.

Why not put it in the side door window, then if you screw up. the replacement is much easier and a lot cheaper. That, what I did.

Good idea and the right side forward plexi in the door is cracked now in one spot, so I could experiment with it and see how it works, then replace it to fix the crack and go from there.

Joe: Mine is in the windshield, but I think the side window might be better as long as you don't have the Sea Plane door. When locating it, take care not to interfere with the fuel sump drain. The side window should work fine and it does eliminate drilling holes in the windshield. Taking wing covers on and off I have caught the bungee on my OAT probe more than once and been afraid of cracking the windshield. It could be a little awkward to find a spot where it won't interfere with the sump drain or opening the window, assuming you still have the slider on the left. I can take a picture of where mine is if you want. It works, but there is the wing cover thing.

Thanks and am going to put it on the right side in the fixed plexi in the door. Its cracked in one place already so if I muck things up can replace it and get rid of the crack at the same time.

Do not like putting it in the windshield for the same reasons you mention. They are too damm expensive and difficult to replace!
