Repair of Champ 7AC Door

Post by Robert Henley »

Has anyone out there used the following company to repair a Champ door?

Cass Nawrocki
Nawrocki Fabricating
Champ (and Chief?) door reconstruction
4634 S. Arrowhead Lane
Moose Lake, MN 55767

I found their name on another Aeronca website. My door has been abused and needs TLC. My local sheet metal guy doesn't want to tackle it.

Any suggestions of someone who could repair it would be appreciated. The Wag-Aero door is fiberglas and requires modification to work on a 7AC, according to Wag-Aero.

Regards

That sounds like a plan if you are willing to do it. How long will it take you to travel there; is it by dog sled? :)

He said he is gone from January 17 through about the 25th. I called the number on Sunday afternoon and he answered. That tells me he may not be doing this full time. He said he wanted his son or son-in-law to help him.

Thanks for offering. Do you have a door to take with you for him to see what needs to be done? I'll post some pictures of mine to show the problem areas.

I may have overdone it with the pictures but I hope it shows the probems with the door.

Robert,

Your door is showing the classic problems that many Champs have. Sure wish that someone would start making new doors or at least skins for them.

Anyone know someone with a very large Hyd press?
