Paul, Thanks for looking. I know there is some paperwork somewhere to back it up, because we took the wings apart ourselves. Be Good! David J.

Joe,
That would be an adventure! Most of the rat-packs I go on have some great stories associated with them.
I'm glad to see you made the trip with only minor problems. It's sad to have the journey end, but when you cross that last ridge you get the feeling of,"I'm home".
A Middletown trip would be great. I have a Citabria project to finish and then I have to make a decision on the next project. The short list is the Jones replica Prewar Chief or a Clipwing Champ. I have some of the preliminary stuff worked out on each of them. Unless I have that LC in my Christmas stocking.
What about Yuma in 2009? Has there been any more information on it?

Paul,

No more info on the Sedan get together next year but will work on it a bit more now that my Sedan is home.

Lets get a thread started in the "Fly-in's" section when it gets closer so we can look at doing at formation flight to Middletown.

Looks good, Dave! I agree with Lloyd. I wasn't crazy about the fit behind the greeenhouse on mine either but after some stretching, shifting and using ' magic words' mine came out as 'acceptable'. I called Aircaft Spruce about it (the fit) but it sounded like the cure was worse than the disease if I remember correctly. The tapes and paint pretty much covered up the seams anyway.

Keep posting pictures on his progress.

Thanks Mike, looks like both planes will probably be flying about the same time. The next one I do we plan to sew one seam ourselves up the middle of the back and glue on lower longerons. Really no perfect way to do it. Keep plugging along! David J.

Ignition Wiring

Post by Terry B. »

Great story board and very useful information. I am nearing the covering stage of my champ and cannot find information about the type and guage of wires from the Mag switch to the Mags. I cannot tell what type wires you have on yours, (I think page 3 of this posting). I see different types in my spruce catalogue and just not sure what to order.

Suggestions and or opinions?

colored unshielded wire with ignition shielding braid totals about $16.00

or

shielded wire (Tefzel insulation, shield of tin-plated copper braid and a jacket of Tefzel 18 ga) runs about $34.80

(Spruce cat 2008-2009 page 467

Thanks
Terry

I ran shielded wire, so there was less chance of interference with the hand-held. FWIW
