I do not recall what the pressure was in my tires when I bought my chief last August. But when learning to fly it, I was getting very good landings and quite proud of myself for the quality of hte landings even though I was just geting familiar with the plane.
Then one day I looked at the tires and thought, "gee, those look aweful low on air". I asked my neighbor who has a C-172 and he said that he keeps 30 psi in 600-6. So I pumped them up to 30 psi.
And now my landings bounced all over. I was wondering why my landings now that I have mroe experience in the plane were worse than when I first started. I think a thread was started awhile back by me and the consensus was that 12 to 15 psi was about right. Some like it higher for pulling/pushing out the plane. But based on my experience so far. I'm thinking 15 psi is aboutright.
So I have lowered my pressures back down to 15 psi. Unfortunately, I have not flown it since. Super cold weather, snow, wind. And I just drained all the fuel out of the airplane in order to take my aux fuel valve apart. to lap it and reinstall.

Re: TIRE PRESSURE 600-6
A long lengthy discussion recently covered this. Stay in the 12 - 15 lb range for best handling.leeport33 wrote:air pressure for a 600-6 12 psi sound about right on a Chief
