I just installed a Flight Line FL-760 in my 7AC.
It has a built in intercom and a PTT that I wired inside my stick.
I powered it with a lead acid sealed alarm battery that is under the front seat.
My anttena is a 45 deg. whip mounted on the bottom of my boot cowl. I use a 3x6 in. doubler on the cowl to stiffen the installation and add more surface area to ground the anttena.
Everything works great, except that I am hearing some mag. noise when the squelch is turned up. I have sheilded ingition and plugs.
I am hoping that I can get this signed off by my IA. He seems to think it will be OK.
Any suggestions on my mag. noise or radio approval?

Bill,
First off, welcome on board!
Second, I would try to get the antenna futher away from the engine and mags. Your noise is usually coming from the magneto's, leads or spark plugs, and the futher away they are the better.
Most people put the antenna in the center of the top of the fuselage, the aluminum wing gap fairings or in the tailcone of the fuselage.
