I had to pause the video just as it was landing..............sure enough it's a cropduster with spray nozzles and a fan pump.

My dad owned a aerial application busness and had a 90 hp Champion with a belly tank as a sprayer. This was in the early 60's. He mostly used Stearmans. In the mid-50s he had as many as 50 ag planes operating from Canada to Central America.

My Champ is registered and was used for agriculture and pest control, I will need to look at the logs to see when it was last used for this.

If you look in the type certificate data sheet for the Champ, near the bottom you will find the Sorensen spray rig on there, so no big deal to install this.

I know of one Champ that still has the spray rig next to it in the hangar, so they are still around. For small areas or a farmer who wants to do their own spray work and the farm is not too large, a Champ might be just what is needed.

My Champ, a '46, narrowly escaped being turned into a duster in the late 50's. It was owned, along with two others, by a guy who was a civilian flight instructor at Malden Air Base in Malden, MO. He converted one, decided that he didn't like the way that it flew, and the other two got spared.

I've always had an interest in old dusters and sprayers, and belong to an ag aviation yahoo group. One of the members sent me some pictures of converted Aeroncas, and if I can figure out how to put them on here, I will. They barely resemble the Champ as it came out of the factory.
