Cylinder colors

Post by Dudley »

David, I'm looking at Lloyds gold cylinders and note that I have seen them done in black also. What source are you aware of to help determine the original Continental colors?

Dudley, I haven't dug into the engine thing in a while. I will ask Lloyd when I talk to him and get back to you. He is in a big hurry to get this one done, so It might have fallen thru the cracks! David J.

Dudley,
The Continental engines of the Aeronca era would of had the crankcase painted gray and the cylinders and sump black. The shades of gray seem to vary slightly.
If you get up to the Livermore airport stop by the shop. Red Sky Aviation has 2 Champs on line and the Chief is just about ready to install the wings.

Thanks Guys, and thanks for the invite Paul. I'm overnight in Napa or Oakland occasionally so expect to see me sometime. Dudley

No problem Dudley,
If I'm not there one of the family members will be.
See if you can beat them out of a Champ ride.

If you buy new Continental cylinders for a C85 they are black.
