only asking because I don't know.
Someone on the field that rebuilds Champs has put a "split door" on at least (2) L-16's that I know of,
He said it was an factory option on L-16's....just curious, was it?

split door
The L16 did not have a split door. Some folks may have modified their aircraft with a seaplane door - I found this STC for 7 series aircraft:
STC Number:
SA3-322
This certificate issued to:

STC Holder's Address:
Personal Air Service
Mahtomedi MN 55115

Door modified to seaplane door.
Issued, 01/01/1961

Here is a copy of Ki's old L16 with a split door. I'd love to have one like this on my plane once it is done.

Re: L-16 Split Door
What kind of paperwork was needed to accomplish the split door? Was it on a 337 or STC? Was the original metal door cut, or a new door built? I'm just curious.

I suspect you can install it with a log book entry. The photo door is an option on current ACA aircraft; but I don't see it listed in the TCDS.
