I got a set of metal spars with my Chief project, but no paper work to go with them. I need help with installing them. They are a blank set so if anyone who could get me a copy of the drawings, it would be a great help. Thanks, Steve

Steve, you are fighting an uphill battle. The only approved metal spars for your plane are Millman/AmChampion. Millman provides spars/misc parts/installation inst./paperwork in a package.
AmChampion I am not sure about, but I don't think they offer a kit with approvals. You will find your ribs will not mate with I beam spars without spacers. Same for all fittings.
Where did your blanks come from? Piper spar stock is available by the foot. A field approval might be your only option, a near impossible task these days. Lots of engineering data, etc. required.
If you have a Chief, the original wooden spars are very, very adequate. The only planes I worry about are the Citabrias and heavy Champs.
If I can help, e mail me direct, David 7BCM, 7ECA, 7KCAB (all projects now)

My Chief is going into the homebuilt class so I don't need any approvals.
All I want to know is how to prep the spars from someone that has installed metal spars before.
I Had one guy say that you put a 1" hole in the spar where the anti-drag wire cross and connect. That's a big hole in the spar.
I just wanted to look at some drawings even if someone took a digital pic of theirs, that might even work.
Thanks Steve

I've got a exp. Champ with metal spars. I have no paperwork, but I can tell you that the only difference I know of is the use of spacers.
The holes for the drag wires are just large enough for the wires, and are drilled at an angle.
This guy can tell you much more. http://www.de-aircraft.com/ He can also sell you spars for about half of what they cost elsewhere.
