New Style of Bulletin board!

Everyone,

We have now made the switch to PHP Bulletin board version 3! This was forced upon us by several thing.

1. Support for the old version (2.22) that we were using stopped the last 3 years totally in January.
2. We have been hit the last two months by spammers who would register up to 50 new members a day, clogging up the system and taking any and all spare time I had away. I just deleted 470 of them after the upgrade.
3. It was time to upgrade for security reasons.

The new format looks "a bit" different but for you guys and gals it works exactly the same as before.

If someone has any problems, please PM or Email me and I will get to work on it.

The big news is that other than bulletin board being upgraded, we also have had ZERO spammers register, which is a big plus.

I object, what was wrong with Spam, it brought up a whole generation of Brits and Colonials.

There is no consistency in this world - Harumph, Harumph, Bah Humbug.

Anyhow, it's my birthday, so I can be a grumpy as I like....... 51 !

Mind you, her indoors hit 60 this year - yea, kept toyboy.

It's great, I keep asking for Senior rates and it is saving me a fortune !

Thanks Joe, for all your work with the site. I've found many solutions from posters on this site and hope I've been able to help others out also from time to time.
My wife calls them "my cyber pals". One question: is there a way to look for new messages other than the dates or am I missing something?

BTW, the style looks great just need to learn how to manage it.

If you guys go to the main page, and look under the NAA Aeronca sticker, there should be several options to click on.

"View unanswered posts," then "View new posts" then "view active topics."

Click on the center one and as long as you are logged in it will take you to the posts that have popped up since the last time you logged in.

Give it a try and let me know if it works.

Looks nice - seems to work good. The only problem I have is my computer won't stay logged in so I have to sign in every time I pull the site up. Anyone else have that problem?

Thanks and while it was your guys idea to change the style (and I really agreed) I simply did not have the time. With being laid off and heading overseas to work (am in London now) I turned it over to Brian Matz. He did some changes to the board that really have helped.

We are not finished and have some more changes to make but hopefully they will be pretty "behind the scenes" to make the board work better. I have to say that after taking the time to get used to this Version 3 of the board that its much better than the old one.

Tim, regarding staying logged in, this is due to cookies and every computer is different in this. Please check your settings and see if its got cookies enabled. Mine stays logged in as long as I do not change locations (am on a laptop and move to different towns) but when I move it requires a new log-in.
