Wing Spar Glue

Post by jkvincent »

....I would prefer to use Resorcinol, but Factory Spar Drawings 5-146 & 5-147 states ...glue must be Casin or Plaskon 252-2. what's up with that, got any suggestions? can I just use Resorcinol? thanks, Jim

Jim,
Resorcinol is perfectly acceptable, and is the industry standard. In fact, Casins glue is no longer allowed because it breaks down when put through the requirred approval tests.

If you need it in writing, I think AC43.13 talks about approved glues.

According to AC43.13-1B-1-3.b(4), The only "approved" adhesive for wood is Resorcinal.
Thanx
