Does anyone have a copy of Buzz Wagner STC SA57RM?
Not sure exactly what it contains and may be to install a 0200 in a Chief. Anyway, the 7AC STC (SA3-372) indicates that "basic electrical system installation may be used as on the Chief STC SA57RM". This is under the heading: Applicable to STC's SA 3-372 (7AC) and SA 57RM (Chief) Continental 0200 engine installation. I know I posted something about this before but I'd like to see a copy of STC SA57RM. I'm not sure what "basic electrical system' means (always looking for a loop hole).

That's my thoughts (as is my AI's) but I'd like to see it in actual paperwork and writing. The Wagner STC seem to be written pretty loose and leave a lot open for interpetation. I did notice the 7AC 0200 STC raises the GW to 1300 or 1350 if the 'no bounce' struts are installed. But, of course, the 1350 puts it out of the light sport catagory.

You are allowed to increase the GW to whatever limit you see fit, as long as its not ABOVE that listed in the STC.
If you do the STC and have the "no bounce struts" you can make your GW 1319 pounds and stay lower than the LSA limit. If you have the normal struts then your GW would be 1300 pounds.

Didn't realize that but it makes sense. I have the "no-bounce' gear (does that insure 'no-bounce' landings
) but would never raise the GW over the Light Sport limit anyway. I'm hoping someone on this forum has a copy of the Wagner Chief STC (SA57RM) in their paperwork and can furnish me a copy.

Just recd STC-SA57RM for my Chief (O-200 installation) hoping to see the gross go up to 1300 as was mentioned above for the Champ. But on page 17 is the note: "All Airframe Items and Specifications in aircraft specifications A-761 and A 796 apply. "
Extracts of weight and balance from those TCs are on the next page, and list the familiar 1250 for 11-ACs and -BCs.
I am puzzled over "no-bounce" oleos, though.
How do I tell if I've got 'em? And where should I look for how gross weight limits are affected? (Was there an STC for no-bounce? In the original type certificate somewhere I haven't seen yet?)
Hate to display my ignorance, but haven't spotted the answer to this one yet.

Very few Chiefs had the "no bounce" gear. Look at the landing gear strut. If there is a big knurled knob on the lower part of the strut, right next to the wheel and brake assy, then you have the no bounce gear. If its smooth all the way down the strut then you have the standard strut.
As far as the "standard electrical system" goes, I would think that the original Aeronca radio system along with the nav lights would be fine. I believe I have a copy of the factory blueprint on the radio setup if anyone needs it.

Still thinking of the possibilities--
We have a complete restoration underway, and will be rebuilding the oleos. It we rebuild with "no-bounce" (assuming that's even possible) can you point me toward the authority for the increased gross?
Don't want to overshoot, of course, because one of the goals is to retain LSA eligibility, but a certification that limits the increase short of max allowable for no-bounce sounds mighty attractive. That caught my eye in the posts above.

To tell the truth, am not sure that the no bounce are legal on the Chief. Its the same size and so on but do not believe that its on the TCDS, so would have to be approved. That said the Champ is the same system and its on the Champ TCDS.
