Poly-tone vs. Aerothane

Nice pretty Polytone covered airplane. 1946 vintage.

A couple holes patched at last annual by old aircraft guy. Except for the use of Aeorthane on those patches. Bright shiny spots now.

I am told you can go over Polytone with Aeorthane, but not the other way around. Any way to fix this guy's mistake so I don't have shiny spots? (thankfully, primarily on the belly and hard to see unless you look for them)

In Texas you can call "FM Enterprises' 817 279 8045 they are in Granbury Tx, located at Pecan Plantation. They are a Consolidated coatings dealer, and thats what polytone/aerothane is. it's a mom & pop operation and they are very helpfull and friendly. I've used them for years for acft covering supplys. You either get to spend a lot of time or a lot of money...
Sand the Aerothane down to silver and re-shoot with PolyTone (can be done in a day if you use a DA sander with 400 wet over the open areas.) Or topcoat the whole thing with Aerothane.

I used to work with Randolph nitrate and butyl dopes years ago.

My current Champ came with the Poly system and am I glad, this stuff is great.

I am in the process of deciding on colors for my 7AC project. I am using the Poly Fiber system and want as close to the original colors as I can find, i.e., yellow and orange/red. What do you recommend? I would like a glossy finish so I understand that the Aero-Thane may be better than the Poly-Tone. Is there anyone who has used this system recently? If so, I would appreciate any thoughts or suggestions you may have.

I have used the Aerothane and think it's a good product, the rest of their stuff I don't use. The distributor should be able to tint the enamel to any color you need.
