cant remove oleo spring?

im trying to disasemble my oleos to get the cases cleaned and painted. the 1st spring slid right out but the 2nd one wont even budge. any tricks or ideas?

Not sure but there is a bushing at the top end, can look at the one you got out , it might be off center and hanging up. see if you can tap it some side to side to center it in the case.

I might have this all wrong, are you talking about the long stroke gear (no-bounce) or the standard strut?

After reading your post again the second spring (small taxi spring) is internal and the blub end needs to be screwed off. See drawing

PS: first thought that the second spring was the other oleo which might not be true.

i belive its just the standard oleo assembly. to be honest i really dont know how to tell the difference. im fairly new to this.

anyway, I had the same problem, one was easy...the other not so.
I suspect the spring gets off center and hangs up on the bushing.
This is how I get'em out, I've used this on both Standard & No Bounce.

Yea, it makes a Big Bang and a Snap, but it's not a big deal, it's not going anywhere (maybe a couple of inches),
just keep your fingers out of the way.
I've done it several times, works great.

sorry fellas my names Jason. i was wondering if something like that would work, was just going to use a small electric winch but was a little nervous. guess ill give it a shot. thanks everyone for being so helpful and paitent with a rookie. wont be too long and ill be able to return the favor for others.

....everybody was a Rookie at one time or another,
Struts might be dry, so give the "grease serts" a couple of shots first,
they'll slide easier, (can't hurt)

the winch trick worked like a charm. as soon as it got a little tension it popped right out.
