There are two available on Barnstormers. One is advertised as rusty with no price indicated. It's up in Winnipeg, Canada with Canadian logs. I'm not sure what kind of hassle it is to bring an airplane part into the U.S. and have it "paperwork legal" to use on your project. The gentleman's name is Martin Smyk and his number is 204-668-5879. The other fuselage is a real beauty and is probably the best 7AC fuselage on the planet. It is virtually brand new, built in a correct jig by a master craftsman. The only problem with it is the forward tube where the main wing spar attaches is a larger than normal diameter. (Can square tubes have a diameter?) That would require an alteration of the main spar fittings and I don't know what kind of hassle that would be to get the FAA to sign off on. It would just be simpler to replace that one tube with the normal size and be done with it. This one of a kind fuselage is in Monroe, NC. The owner is Steve Middleton and he is asking $7,500. His number is 704-668-7546. If your present fuselage just needs repaired, perhaps I can offer some help. We are just about finished replacing the longerons and splicing on a replacement tail to a pretty badly damaged Champ. Once it's out of the jig we are available to help someone else.

The jig is in a welding shop a few miles southwest of Cleveland, OH. For any other Champ rebuilders who might be close by, this jig is free to use to check your fuselage alignment before recovering. It usually takes about two hours from the time you pull in the driveway until you are loading your trailer back up.
