floor board installation

i dont see how to mount the floors in my chief. any input?

My Chief's floorboard is a snug fit that is attached to the tubular steel bracing under it. It is attached with 6 clamps that are around the tubes and under the floorboard. I can't remember the name of the clamp types but they then have an arm that screws screw into. 4 of the clamps are easy to get the screws into but 2 are very difficult, having to get you hand under the floorboard to hold the clamps in position while you get the screws started. I cut my floorboard in half, front to back, which makes installing and removing much easier.

The front one is the hard one. The back half is a piece of cake. They are connected by a series of straps and metal screws. The front one is held in place by a couple of clamps on mine, plus screws from the sidewalls into the floor. You have to slip it in at an angle and get it around the tubing clusters. I usually have a couple of false starts, trying to get it under rudder pedals or vertically trying to get it down. I do seem to remember that some horizontal maneuvering is the key, as well as lifting it about five inches on the side. You can't do it with the sidewalls in place. I do know that it's much easier to take out than it is to remember how you took it out and reverse the process a couple of days later! This would be a great "how to" YouTube! It's the Rubic's Cube of the annual every year! I think if you were on an assembly line and did 20 a day, you'd wonder what the fuss was about!

do you run the screw through the top of the board then put the nut on the bottom. mine are two pieces so it shouldnt be much trouble. is two per board enough?

Jason. My screws are of the following type and are through the top of the floorboard down, the screw holes being counter sunk. I can't remember if the screws then just bite into the smaller, bottom hole on the clamp or if a clip on receptical as shown in the second link is used. Either way, easy enough. If you have easy access, then screws with nuts should be just fine. Whether 2 or 3 per board I guess is up to you. Mine have 3 per half, but really the boards wouldn't be going anywhere with just 2, I don't guess.
