halon wilson exhaust

wondering if anyone would know the differ. in weight between halon wilson's /cessna 150 exhaust and heat output of the 150 exhaust verses the halon's Thanks Steve

Unsure about the weight but the 150 system puts out plenty of heat, even here in the northwoods. I think the Cessna system is a bit cleaner on installation without the bends in the riser pipes. The only kicker is new holes have to be made in the lower cowl or the tail pipes modified slightly. I have a 337 on scan if you need. I'm going to install the 150 system on my 0200 L16 project when I get to that point. "Dennis" on this site has the 150 system on his Champ also. I'm sure there are others with both.

Ugh, not quite right. 13# is the difference between the Y exhaust that was removed and the Hanlon Wilson exhaust that was added. If you keep reading you will see that the Y exhaust weighed 4#. That makes the total weight for the Hanlon Wilson exhaust 13# plus 4# for a total of 17 pounds. jrh

Ok! Apparently I misread the weights so there's quite a difference between the HW and the "Y" system (obviously). It doesn't seem like the Cessna system is that heavy but when you add the shrouds, etc. I suppose it all adds up. I do like the muffled system as it's quieter and warmer but it doesn't have that nice Aeronca 'cackle' to it.

The weight difference is exactly the weight of 6 one hundred dollar bills in favor of the Cessna exhaust.

Thanks for the info. about the weight differ. I acquired a 85-8 complete, that was in a 7dc with all accessories. I have heard that the halon's made good heat but where a little on the heavy side. I am building an experimental, trying to save weight and bulk but would like to keep the heat output for the winter flying. Still would like to find what the 150 exhaust weigh and if they are about the same size. I know both exhaust will lighten the wallet but thought that I could sell the halon's and purchase a set of 150's if there is a weight and bulk differ. of any value. The 150 Cessna exhaust system IS the Hanlon-Wilson system, at least on the 3 150's we have, the tag on the mufflers say, "Hanlon-Wilson". The only difference in the 150 (Hanlon) exhaust and the Aeronca (Hanlon) exhaust, is the slightly different placement of the exhaust discharge pipes.
