7AC Pitot/Static tube dimension

Post by GWestphal »

My project 7AC came with a bent pitot tube and no static tube. Would anyone have a copy of the 3-535 drawing showing dimensions, location and size of the static holes and the collar dimension. I checked the drawing file but no luck. Or if someone has one at hand could I give you a call and you do some measuring for me. Thanks........Gordy Westphal, Rochester, Mn.

Just looked and the NAA does not have that drawing.

Hope someone chimes in with the info!

The collar is about .189 thick and the dia is .499, the static holes are about 1.09 and 1.05, 4 each, back from the front end, depending on the amount of solder on the end.
Sorry I don't think I can help with the hole size.

Gordy,
I do have a extra complete pitot tube assembly, both tube and the collar. Unsure where I got it. Looks decent. If you want it, you're welcome to it and if you're not in a hurry I could send it back with Jerry Berg when he makes one of his Saturday morning 'donut runs'. Or if yours is useable you can take the demensions off this one and send it back when you're done.

Mike, that sounds great. I image Jerry will be over in a couple of weeks. I have the static side bent based on the pitot and pictures of Bill Pancakes but need to look at the static holes and I will need to make a collar. I will return it on the next airmail flight to Strum. Thanks to everyone for their help.........Gordy. Say what day and time will you be heading down to Ohio and what freq will you be listening on. I am thinking either wed or thur morning and am looking a Kankakee (sp) for a gas stop. Saturday is our EAA hangar cleaning day for Fathersday Breakfast so will head home friday afternoon or saturday morning.

I'll stick it in the pickup and send it back with Jerry. No rush to return it or if you need it, you're welcome to it. Unsure about Ohio at this point. It's still on my radar screen but I haven't made any firm plans yet. If/when I go will depend on weather enroute. Last time I couldn't fly due to the weather and I'm sort of a chicken flyer anyway.

Are you flying?
